Students from the East London School of Karate (ELSK) scooped a total of 16 medals and trophies at the recent Middlesex Open Karate Championships.
Of the 17 competitors from the school, 13 were first-timers to karate competition, making the already-impressive medal haul far greater.
ELSK also won first place in the junior team kumite (sparring) event.
In the individual Kata (pre-arranged movements) section, ELSK picked up four second places, six third places and two fourths, while in the Kumite (fighting) section, they secured two second places and two third places.
In addition, they came first place in the boys 11 to 13 years Team Kumite (fighting) section.
