Despite taking place almost 4,000 miles away, East London Runners had a large contingent representing the club at Sunday’s Chicago Marathon.

Six members made the mammoth journey to the USA to take part in the event, with Jose Rodriguez coming in under the three-hour mark and Roselin Boramakot recording a personal best time.

Rodriguez also completed the marathon inside the first 1,000 finishers, confirming a place of 574th with a time of 2:45.35.

Not too far behind him was Daniel Slipper who recorded a time of 3:10.27 and coming 3292nd while Ciaran Canavan placed 8686th by setting a time of 3:35.36.

Jakib Czeczotka followed just over five minutes later with 3:40.43 (10,006th), Lance Fuller crossed in a time of 4:08.43 (17,205th), and finally Boramakot’s personal best time came in at 4:27.13, earning her 24,39th place.

Also abroad, ELR had three representatives in the Netherlands, two at the Eindhoven marathon and one at the Eindhoven Jumbo 10km, both on Sunday.

Michael Wilson finished the marathon in a time of 4:19.53, earning him 1616th place, while Kirk Johnson crossed in 236th, earning a 5:22.48 finish.
