Three of Tottenham’s heroes from past and present will be commemorated on a bench.
Olympic boxing gold medallist Nicola Adams, war hero and the first black Tottenham Hotspur football player, Walter D. Tull, and the ‘father of Meteorology’, Luke Howard, will be immortalised with life-size portraits this week.
The bench will be unveiled at a pop-up market to celebrate a new street layout in West Green, Tottenham.
It was designed in partnership with the charity Sustrans, who worked with Haringey Borough Council and residents to deliver West Green's new, cycle and pedestrian friendly, street layout.
Cllr Nilgun Canver, cabinet member for the environment, said the bench is a lovely gesture and a great addition to the area.
The pop-up market, organised by the council's Smarter Travel Team, takes place on Saturday May 18 in front of Downhills Park entrance, in West Green Road, from 11am to 4pm.
