A 17-year-old girl from Tottenham has won a scholarship to play football for an American university.
Tianna Carrington, who currently plays for the Tottenham Hotspur and Leyton Orient ladies teams, will be attending Lassen Community College, in California, USA.
The 17-year-old attends City and Islington College, in Holloway Road, Islington, and said that despite focusing on football it was important to her to have skills and qualifications.
The IT student will be working towards a degree in computer graphics while she plays for the college team.
Tianna, who hopes to compete in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, said: “My brother trained me when I was little and that was how I got interested in football.
“I have always dreamed of going to play football in America and it has been a lengthy process to get there, but I cannot wait to experience it.”
