Tottenham Hotspur legend Steffen Freund was a celebrity guest as he rewarded coaches from the club’s foundation for their community events training scheme.

The former player presented certificates to 14 coaches from the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, Arsenal in the Community, Liverpool in the Community and AC Milan who graduated from the Cruyff Foundation Community Programme.

The programme helped deliver events for the community in the area and the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation also offered events management training to young people from Haringey aged 14 to 21.

The newly qualified Tottenham Hotspur Cruyff Foundation Coaches will work with Haringey residents to equip them with the skills they need to create and deliver their own events.

Steffen Freund said: “Congratulations to all of the coaches here today. They should all be proud of their achievements, which I know will help to inspire other people within Haringey to deliver fantastic events within the local community.”

Grant Cornwell, chief executive officer at Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, added: “The Cruyff Foundation training programme offers a wonderful opportunity to empower young people in Haringey to create and deliver their own events, become more actively involved in their community and, as such, creates fantastic new role models for Haringey.

“We’re delighted that the training provided by Cruyff Foundation, made possible by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, will create life changing opportunities for participants on our community development and employment programmes, also supported by the charity lottery.

“It’s fantastic that two charitable foundations supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery are able to use the funding collaboratively for the benefit of Haringey.”
