Fire swept through a 25-foot river boat moored on the River Lea late last night.
London Fire Brigade was called at around 10.45pm last night by a member of the public, who reported that they had heard a bang and explosion by the river.
Four fire engines and around 21 firefighters and officers from Tottenham and Walthamstow fire stations were called to the River Lea near Bream Close in Tottenham.
Crews put out the fire but the boat was badly damaged.
Crew manager Steve Hardy, who was at the fire, said: “The boat was well alight when firefighters arrived and quickly put the fire out, but the boat was severely damaged by the blaze.
"A propane gas cylinder inside the boat was cooled down and made safe.”
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
