Hundreds of thousands of commuters face travel disruption as drivers strike over unsafe work practices.
On Friday (October 5) just after midnight Central Line drivers will walk out, bringing the line to a standstill for 24 hours.
A second strike by drivers is planned for November 7.
Finn Brennan, Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen organiser, said: “Industrial action is always the last resort, but due to management refusing to budge on a range of issues affecting our members, we have reluctantly decided this is our only course of action.
“What links these issues is a basic failure to treat drivers on the line with fairness and respect.”
The union said the vote was by more than 9:1 for action.
They say Tube bosses have imposed "unsafe" working practices.
Aslef's organiser Finn Brennan said: "We have, reluctantly, decided this is our only course of action."
London Underground's Nigel Holness said the potential strike action would also see the Waterloo and City Line closed for the entire day.
He said: "We are meeting with Aslef leadership to try to work with them to avoid this strike action."
Do you support the strikes or do you consider this an unnecessary inconvenience?
