An online auction helped raise more than 1,300 for a primary school to kit out a new art room.

Ferry Lane School in Tottenham teamed up with the developers of the Tottenham Hale regeneration last month for a creative and charitable project.

Twenty pieces of art were created by employees at developer Argent Related, as well as architects also working on the Tottenham Hale scheme.

The artworks varied in style, from traditional landscapes to abstract works, with many of the team opting to portray different interpretations of London landmark King’s Cross, a 67-acre site redeveloped by Argent, as well as the Tottenham Hale site.

The artwork was sold off, raising £1,347 for Ferry Lane.

In addition to the art auction, Ferry Lane Primary School students took part in an art competition over half-term.

Pupils were invited to submit a piece of art around the theme 'My City'.

Four of the most eye-catching pieces were shortlisted by the staff at the school and then put to a vote by Argent Related employees.

Year 5 pupil Samuel won 50 per cent of the vote and his artwork will be framed and take pride of place at the Tottenham Hale sales suite.

Lisa Rawashdeh, acting head teacher at Ferry Lane Primary School said: "Argent Related’s art auction was fantastic and, especially in lockdown, it was a great way to celebrate Tottenham Hale’s community spirit and creativity.

"Thank you to everyone who bid on the artwork and to the artists. The money raised will go a long way in helping to provide our pupils with a much-needed new art room."

Alexandra Woolmore, head of planning at Argent Related, added: "Tottenham Hale is a truly unique area with a strong creative community. This local context and Ferry Lane Primary School’s vision for their new art space provided the inspiration for the art auction.

" It has been a privilege to support Ferry Lane Primary School and we can’t wait to see all the wonderful art that the pupils create.

"We look forward to working closely with other groups and organisations at the heart of the community as the development progresses."
