The direction of a one-way street outside a parade of shops in Cockfosters is to be reversed.
A notice from Enfield Council in this week’s edition of the Enfield Independent details plans to change the direction of the one-way service in the service road outside Nos. 1 to 14 Heddon Court Parade on an experimental basis.
The change will take effect from June 1 when the one-way system will operate in a south-easterly direction.
The council states it “will consider in due course” whether the change should be made permanent.
Proposals have also been published to introduce speed humps in a road in Enfield.
The humps, which would be 0.9 metres long and no more than 100mm in height, are set to be placed at three locations in Lockfield Avenue. These are:
From a point 14.55m south-west of the common boundary of Nos. 74 and 76 south-westward
From a point 11.05m north-east of the common boundary of Nos. 81 and 83 north-eastward
From the north-eastern boundary of No. 90 south-westward
Meanwhile, a part of Cuckoo Hall Lane is set to be closed to motorists for most of next week for utility works.
The road will be shut between its junctions with Hertford Road and Scarborough Road, as and when directed by signs, for an estimated five days from Monday.
During the closure, the alternative routes will be via Hertford Road, Nightingale Road, Scarborough Road and vice versa; Hertford Road, St Alphege Road, Turin Road and vice versa; Cuckoo Hall Lane, Nightingale Road, Scarborough Road and vice versa.
