A man has been ordered to pay nearly £400 for failing to put a cigarette in the bin in Enfield.
Scott Bradley, of Beaconsfield Road in the town, was charged with littering after he did not properly dispose of the item in Southbury Road on August 6 last year.
Court papers say the defendant "threw down, dropped or otherwise deposited the cigarette" in Enfield town centre and left it there.
He was fined £220 and ordered to pay £125 costs and a £34 victim services surcharge taking the total to £379.
Bradley was not present when his case was heard at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Monday, January 17.
It was proved via a Single Justice Procedure, which enables cases involving adults charged with minor offences to be dealt with by a single magistrate on the basis of papers alone, rather than both parties having to attend court.
The court concluded Bradley must pay the money by the end of the month.
