A man from Edmonton is set to go on trial after allegations that he intentionally drugged someone to enable sexual activity.

Michael Folkes, of Folkestone Road, was charged with administering a substance at his home with intent to stupefy / overpower to allow sexual activity on August 28, 2020.

According to court documents, the 45-year-old is accused of intentionally administering ecstasy to someone knowing they did not consent, “and with the intention of stupefying or overpowering them so as to enable any person to engage in sexual activity them”.

He pleaded not guilty on February 28 and the case was sent to Wood Green Crown Court for trial on March 30.

Folkes was granted conditional bail.

He had also been charged with possessing cannabis on January 6, 2021, at his home address, which he pleaded guilty to.

Folkes was fined £40, ordered to pay £34 a victim services surcharge and the drugs were forfeited.

His guilty plea was taken into account during sentencing, according to court documents.
