A third man has been charged with murder after the fatal shooting of Tyler McDermott in Tottenham.

Tyrese Matthews, 20, of Black Prince Road, Lambeth, was charged today (April 19) and is expected to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court later.

Police launched a murder investigation into the death of 17-year-old Tyler McDermott after he was shot in Tottenham on April 13.

Officers were called to Norman Road at 4.20am where they found the teenager suffering from a gunshot injury.

Tyler was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died on the afternoon of April 14.

Police say Tyler’s family continues to be supported by specialist officers.

Paying tribute to him, the teenager’s mother said: "On October 29, 2005 my king was born. On April 14, 2023 I said farewell.

“That's not something I wish on any mother. But today I know that the Lord knows best despite the pain me, your step dad, brothers and sister, and extended family are feeling.

“Just remember that you are loved, was loved, and forever love continues. My one and only son Tyler.

"You are with the Lord until that faithful day. Love you always."

Two other men, 19-year-old Tyrese Barnett, of no fixed address, and 19-year-old Leo Reid, of Tulse Hill, were charged with Tyler's murder on April 16.

They appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday (April 17). Police said they await details of their next hearing.
