Dwain Chambers has been announced as an official ambassador for The Prost8 Challenge at Lee Valley VeloPark this summer.

The Prost8 Challenge is a ground-breaking initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds for minimally invasive prostate cancer treatments.

And the prestigious event is scheduled to take place at the renowned Lee Valley VeloPark, operated by Better, the charitable social enterprise, on July 9.

The Prost8 Challenge aims to unite communities and organisations in the fight against prostate cancer, which is now the most prevalent form of cancer in the UK, overtaking breast cancer in 2019.

This event seeks to generate funds to support the aims of charity partner, Prost8 UK, who are focused on providing better treatment options for men diagnosed with low-medium grade prostate cancer, through the provision of, at least, eight focal therapy units to NHS hospitals across the UK.

Chambers, 45, is known for his outstanding achievements as an elite athlete, brings his passion and commitment to the Prost8 Challenge as its ambassador.

The Commonwealth, European and World gold medalist now runs Dwain Chambers Performance Academy at Lee Valley Athletics Centre, having faced personal challenges and triumphs throughout his career, and is determined to utilise his platform to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

"I am honoured to be named the ambassador for the Prost8 Challenge," he said.

"Prostate cancer is a serious health concern affecting countless individuals and families across the UK. I'm passionate about raising awareness and supporting initiatives that can help offer better treatment options to those men impacted by this disease. Together, we can make a difference."

The Prost8 Challenge is an 8km challenge, in which participants can choose to either run, jog or walk. All those who complete the challenge will receive a goody bag, including refreshments from sponsors and a sustainably produced medal, fitting with the organisers ethos of minimising carbon footprint.

The Prost8 Challenge intends to serve as a beacon of hope, encouraging individuals from all walks of life to come together in the spirit of unity and support in the fight against prostate cancer.

"We are thrilled to have Dwain Chambers as the ambassador for the Prost8 Challenge," said event organiser Malcolm Grieve.

"His dedication, resilience, and national recognition will undoubtedly amplify our message and inspire others to join us in the fight against prostate cancer. Together, we can create a brighter future for those affected by this disease."
