A woman has described a horror crash between a car and an e-scooter as being like “something you see in a movie”.

An e-scooter rider is still fighting for their life in hospital after the crash in Enfield on Sunday (July 23).

An eyewitness, who was in the back seat of a different car, said she saw the injured man fly 20ft into the air.

The crash happened where Parsonage Lane meets Baker Street. The witness, who lives nearby and asked not to be named, said: “Our light went green and my husband was about to turn left.

“But before doing that he wanted to check that the road was clear, so he looked to the right and right then he saw this man on the scooter.”

She claimed that another car then collided with the e-scooter as they both passed through the junction, flinging the rider into the air until he came to rest about 25ft from her vehicle.

The eyewitness said the impact “was quite strong” and the e-scooter rider was visibly injured, lying motionless on the ground.

She added that the driver of the car stopped at the scene and was visibly distressed and shaking.

Police said they were called to the scene at about 4pm, and that The London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance also attended.

The e-scooter rider, a man aged in his 30s, was rushed to an east London hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Police confirmed some road closures were put in place immedately after the crash and that there have been no arrests at this stage of the investigation.

Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for any witnesses or drivers with dash cam footage to come forward.
