HUNDREDS of protesters campaigned yesterday to save the Whittington Hospital's Accident and Emergency department.
Protesters rallied at Archway Methodist Hall in a meeting organised by Islington MP Jeremy Corbyn, to oppose plans to close or curtail the unit which serves residents in Haringey, Islington and Barnet.
Campaigners opposing the plans heard from MPs Emily Thornberry and Tottenham MP David Lammy.
Karen Jennings, head of health at UNISON and Labour's prospective parliamentary candidate for the Horsney and Wood Green seat, also spoke at the meeting.
Trade union councils in Barnet, Haringey and Islington who have united in a joint campaign to save the A&E will host a meeting at the Whittington Park community centre on Monday, December 14, at 7pm.
NHS Haringey will answer objections to changes at a further meeting scheduled in January.
