AN off-licence in Muswell Hill will be allowed to sell alcohol 24-hours a day on weekends despite objections from residents.

Eros Grocers, in Alexandra Park Road, had applied for an all-hours licence throughout the week to sell booze, but came up against strong opposition from neighbours and a ward councillor.

At a hearing on Tuesday, a panel of Haringey councillors allowed Friday and Saturday round-the-clock opening but restricted the off-licence to opening between 7am and midnight Sunday to Thursday.

Councillors also imposed strict new conditions including new CCTV and two staff working at all times between midnight and 7am when open to try to allay residents' fears.

The new licence will also only be confirmed when the council has been given written confirmation that the new conditions are being adhered to.
