MENTAL health nurses have been warned to look out for a convicted killer who has been on the run for more than a year.

Enfield detectives released a fresh appeal this week to find Fida Mohammed Utmanzi, 21, who escaped from the North London Clinic in Edmonton in March last year.

Afghanistan-born Utmanzi was locked up at the Church Street clinic for brutally stabbing to death Rasool Khan at a flat in West Green Road, Tottenham.

Utmanzi was suffering paranoid delusions when he attacked and killed his fellow asylum seeker, and admitted manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility in January last year.

A judge ordered he be detained indefinitely after stabbing Mr Khan, 21, without warning and slitting his throat, but two months later Utmanzi scaled a 5m-high fence and broke out of the secure facility.

He was last seen walking along Wandsworth High Street having taken a train from Edmonton Green Station.

Police have issued a warning for mental health nurses across the country to be on the look out in case they treat him.

He is known to have links to Newcastle, Tottenham, Fulham, and Putney, and it is thought he may have headed to Tyneside to seek help from the Afghan community in that region.

Officers have advised members of the public who see Utmanzi not to approach him, but to call 999 instead.

Alternatively, anyone with information to help the manhunt can call detectives on 0208 345 1223 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
