KITTENS of an abandoned tabby cat are looking for a new home after rescue workers saved their mother.

Two-year-old Marley was found heavily pregnant by staff from Wood Green Animal Shelter near the charity's centre in Lordship Lane last month.

The tabby was taken in by a member of the public and staff helped Marley give birth to four kittens – Lilly, Sebastian, Barney and Bella – who now need a permanent home.

Shelter manager Kate Wickins said: “When Marley was found she was very hungry but frightened.

“She and the kittens are now doing really well and we are grateful to those members of the public who took her in while she was pregnant.”

“Marley’s story stresses the importance of neutering. Neutering can help a cat to live a longer, healthier life, prevent the birth of unwanted kittens and reduce straying, fighting and spraying.”
