THE community came together on Friday for a benefit gig to raise money for riot-hit Tottenham.
There was street dance, singing and music at Millfield Arts Centre, in Silver Street, Edmonton, and organiser are still counting the cash brought in by the event, which started at 8pm.
While social networking websites like Twitter and Facebook were used to spread the riots, those behind the gig used them to spread word of their own efforts to help repair the damage.
Organiser Tara Platt, of the Tottenham Community Choir, said: “It was brilliant. It was a really good night. I’m still waiting to find out what the box office total was.
“It was a great success. It was just incredible to see so many people from the community pulling it together in a couple of weeks.”
