Nurses who care for people with learning disabilities were recognised by a new awards scheme this week.
The first ever Haringey Nursing Excellence Awards took place on Tuesday night at The Old Dairy pub, in Crouch Hill, to celebrate the achievements of those in nursing care.
Nominations for the awards were invited from professionals, members of the public, carers and NHS staff, and the director of nursing at the Department of Health, Ben Thomas, was on hand to congratulate the winners.
Among them were Haringey community nurse Jane Lorizzo, who was nominated to receive an award by a member of the public, and Sarah Ames, a community nurse who works for an outreach service supporting people with mental health problems.
