Supermarket giant Asda has announced plans that will impact over 250 stores across the UK.
The change will see the expansion of in-store greengrocer with a specialist service set to give customers a helping hand.
In September 2021, Asda first shared its plans to introduce greengrocers to 150 stores across the nation.
But in a recent interview with The Sunday Times, owners of Asda, the Issa brothers confirmed the service would be expanded to a further 100 stores.
The job of an in-store greengrocer will be to oversee quality standards and check product availability.
These roles will be based on the shop floor with the supermarket previously confirming that they expect the jobs to be filled by existing staff and new hires.
The change comes as part of Asda's £9 million investment into the boost of fresh offerings available in store.
This also includes the chance to give customers a wide choice of premium fruit and vegetable from their luxury brand.
Asda’s managing director of fresh produce, Mike Snell, said: "The fresh produce section is one of the most popular locations in our stores and more than half of our best-selling lines by volume are generated from this area."
