New Tricks actor Dennis Waterman has sadly died aged 74 but did you know he has a very famous daughter who starred in BBC soap Eastenders?

Hannah Waterman is the daughter of the English actor, born in Clapham, London who passed away on Sunday afternoon, according to his family.

A statement from the family said: "We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved Dennis, passed away very peacefully at his home in Spain."

He died on Sunday afternoon with his wife Pam at his side, they said.

"The family kindly ask that our privacy is respected at this very difficult time," they added.

Hannah is best known for playing Laura Beale in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders.

Waterman joined the soap back in February 2000 as Laura Dunn before her character would go on to become the third wife of Ian Beale.

Her mother and fellow actress Patricia Maynard played Laura's mum in EastEnders for a couple of episodes in 2001

Her character was later killed off in 2004 after tripping over a toy in her flat and falling down the stairs.

After leaving the show, she found success in the BBC medical dramas Doctors and Holby City, The Bill and a recurring role in New Tricks, which also starred her father.

Hannah also has an impressive theatre CV, appearing on stage in the Vagina Monologues, Soap at The Stephen Joseph theatre and Tom, Dick and Harry and Calendar Girls in the West End.

She married fellow EastEnders actor Ricky Groves in 2006 before they later separated in 2010 and divorced in 2014.

The former soap actress is now based in Sydney, Australia with her husband, Huw Higginson, and son Jack.
