Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Hoffenheim right-back Jeremy Toljan.
The departure of Kyle Walker to Manchester City for £50 million means Spurs need reinforcements in defence.
Kieran Trippier is expected to step up to first-choice right-back next term and Toljan is seen as the ideal cover.
It is believed the 22-year-old could be available for as little as £3m.
The German has made 58 appearances for Hoffenheim and his contract expires next year.
He impressed as part of the German side which won the Under-21 European Championship last month.
Hoffenheim director of football, Alex Rosen, recently discussed Spurs proposed interest and suggested the club could be powerless to prevent his Toljan’s departure.
He said: “If Tottenham come in and offer to treble Toljan’s salary, you cannot say ‘London is an unattractive city or Tottenham are a bad club'. This is all very positive, and then young people think about it.”
